First test, HUGE failure!

Regardless of which side of the aisle we prefer, we the people of America, a free and sovereign nation, should be outraged as to how the Obama Administration and Democrats have handled the recent attempt by the North Koreans to launch an intercontinental ballistic missile.

This incident took place for two reasons. First, to test the metal of a new President, whose response by the way fell right into the hands of a maniacal dictator, by running to the United Nations, which he believes, is in “The best interests of the nation as a whole.” I emphatically disagree, the best interests of the nation as a whole is to provide for it’s safety and security both now and in the future. Second, this launch had nothing to do with a satellite and was simply part of a research and development program by the North Koreans for purposes of determining missile range. Allowing North Korea’s dictator to launch a missile capable of caring nuclear warheads into international airspace is unacceptable and unconscionable. That missile should have been blown out of the sky the moment it entered international airspace.

Joe Biden prophetically warned that America’s enemies would test Barack Obama with an international crisis within six months if he was elected. I wonder, were they warned this was coming, and if so why didn’t they prevent it? Considering the fact that North Korea‘s recent launch of a missile earned them a “strongly worded letter” to the United Nations for sanctions, I’d say he was tested and failed.

The Obama Administration/Democrats have failed in proving that that they are equipped and capable in handling themselves in an international crisis, further solidifying our fears that he and they are unprepared for true leadership. His weakness in foreign policy has been apparent in several areas, from the delicate task of diplomatic gift giving to his declaration that America has “failed to appreciate Europe’s leading role in the world” and “shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive” towards its allies. This is how our President chooses to speak of his people, his country, his voters?

The current administration and its’ inept decision making processes and reactions have exposed the United States to a serious level of danger. For more than a decade, the world has watched with great curiosity our every move in dealing with North Korea. It’s irrelevant that the missile failed, the act was hostile, aggressive and they’ve been warned against carrying the threat to fruition on several occasions. They now know that all warnings under this administration carry no weight and no consequence except that of a non-consequential United Nations.

There is a clear and present danger to the United States of America whether this administration wants to believe it or not. It is one that must be confronted and contained, not ignored or believed inconsequential.

The cost of doing nothing

As we all know, our borders are all extremely porous; especially our southern border with Mexico. As I see it, the only real option we have is to build a fence and use the technology and human support needed to monitor it effectively. The Mexican government must also assume border security responsibility or face trade sanctions with the United States. The Obama Administration/Democrats and some Republican’s attitude toward protecting our borders is pretty chilling to say the least. For the sheer sake of political power they continue to ignore American sovereignty and safety, while continuing to advocate amnesty for those who have entered our country illegally and have consistently voted against efforts to increase our border security.

The bottom line is: We will continue to have holes in our border security whereby both illegals, and those who seek to harm us can enter without fear of penalty. Consequently, due to politics and politics alone, we not only forfeit our safety and security, but we willingly saddle every American citizen earning a paycheck with billions of dollars welfare to keep them here. There is no doubt whatsoever that the Democrats will do all that they can to give citizenship to illegals as soon as possible, as it is no secret that those who live off the system typically vote the system and therefore give the Democrats exactly what they are working tirelessly to achieve, total and complete power.

As you will note, the figures below date back a couple of years consuming $338 Billion dollars over that period in time. How much more is being spent today?

It’s time to stand up, it’s time to speak out, it’s time to TAKE OUR CONTRY BACK!

We are not only a nation of immigrants; we are also a nation of laws and refusing to accept that is simply not an option.

We need TERM LIMITS NOW!!

My Fellow Citizens,

Nearly a generation ago I believed that the electorate would be the jury that decided the length of time that any one elected representative would be allowed to remain in office.  Yet, that was long ago and my attitude has since changed.  Sam Adams, one of our founding fathers said that public officials should NOT be chosen if they are lacking in experience, training, proven virtue and demonstrated wisdom.  He said that the responsibility of the electorate is to chose those whose “fidelity has been tried in the nicest and tenderest manner, and has been ever firm and unshaken.”   The founders realized human nature for what it was/is and that is a mixture of good and evil.  They understood that if the people are to govern themselves and have the best government possible, then the political process should be one that allows the most experienced and the most virtuous to rise to the top and be elected to public office.

Given the fact that the electorate of today is largely uneducated in politics, issues and candidates, I find that TERM LIMITS is the only remedy.  Given the economic turmoil and the obvious move toward socialism, WE THE PEOPLE, must take these matters to heart and make sweeping changes toward protecting our Constitution and our American way of life.

I propose therefore that Term Limits be imposed on the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate as follows; Those elected to the United States House of Representatives shall serve no longer then 12 years (six terms) and those elected to The United States Senate shall serve no longer then 12 years (two terms).  I believe that this change would be embraced by the founders’ thus breathing new oxygen into the life blood of our Republic.

The framers of our Constitution never intended for the government to take over the financial system of this country.  Nor did they intend for the President of the United States to become the Chairman of the Board of an automobile manufacturer.  They warned against a welfare state of “utopian schemes and of leveling or re-distributing wealth.”  They warned against implementing a Monarchy(socialistic monarchy), such as that which the Obama Administration/Democrats are attempting today.  Thomas Jefferson said, “These men have no right to office.  If a monarchist be in office, anywhere, and it be known to the President, the oath he has taken to support the Constitution imperiously requires the instantaneous dismission of such officer; and I hold the President criminal if he permitted such to remain.  To appoint a monarchist to conduct the affairs of the Republic, is like appointing an atheist to the priesthood.”

Thomas Jefferson also wrote regarding the economy…“we shall consider ourselves unauthorized to saddle posterity with our debts, and morally bound to pay for ourselves; and consequently within what may be deemed the period of a generation, or the life expectancy of the majority.”

So given the aforementioned, I don’t think it comes as a surprise that we have a major problem in Washington D.C.  Our elected Representatives are passing legislation without reading and understanding its consequesnces, appointing cabinet members who have engaged in illegal or highly questionable behavior and have therefore left the wants and needs of the American people far behind.

Our borders have been left unprotected, illegal aliens seem to have more rights than our taxpaying citizens, and hardworking men and women are more frustrated than ever before.

As I said term limits like that of the President is the only remedy.  The framers did not design our Republic to be a permanent "docking station" for "career politicians". experience has proven to us time and time again that power tends to corrupt even those with the best of intentions.

The Death of Personal Responsibility

I'm convinced more than ever that General Motors is one of many troubled companies that would benefit from my pro-business, tax friendly “Stimulus Proposal”  (http://steverathje.com/economy.php click on alternatives)

After the recent report put out by  Deloitte & Touche, There is no doubt that this Company is heading straight for bankruptcy. And why shouldn't it?  General Motors has already burned through $13.4 billion of your money in less than six months.  The company's revenue fell from $180 billion in 2007 to $149 billion in 2008, with the worst crash being in the fourth quarter with car sales continuing to plummet well into the new year.

According to the latest statistics, General Motors is now worth 1.5 Billion (on paper) , they've borrowed $13 billion already and now they're requesting another $ 16 billion of your money. I propose that not one more taxpayer dollar be loaned/given to the General Motors or any OTHER company for purposes of a financial bailout.  ALL should be forced into bankruptcy courts the same way the airlines and other businesses and families have had to.  This allows them to re-organize (under the protection of the courts) stand up to,and renegotiate with the Unions and their supply chains, etc. This bail out situation is beyond understanding and the American people should be outraged.

Bankruptcy will eliminate the chokehold the union has over them regardless of what the politicians say.  The Mayor of Detroit, more then anyone, should recognize that bailouts are not a long term solution  because the root cause still exists after the money is spent.  It’s not about politics or votes, it’s about sound business practices that must be permitted to be put in place if our automobile industry and its thousands of jobs are to survive.  Unfortunately it was poor business decisions on the part of the automobile industry as well as the government that got us where we are today, so how is it that we rely on their expertise to solve the problem. For example: current “Union wages and benefits” (totaling $154.00 per/hr) equate to $1200 added  to the cost of each American made automobile. No company can expect to be competitive and sell to the average American that pays that kind of compensation to its workers.  The obvious long term solution is to simply allow the free market system to work.  The Obama Administration/Democrats, must learn that  the only thing that will lead to real solvency  is personal responsibility, tax cuts, honest labor and supply negotiation and less government interference and regulation.  It’s not rocket science, it’s common sense. The automobile industry simply can no longer afford the huge burden it carries, regardless of who is footing the bill (ie: the American taxpayer or the Automobile Industry). The bailout in essence (your money) reflects your approval.  I say allow the Automobile Industry to fail, let it learn from its mistakes and emerge the American juggernaut we all know it can be.

A Stimulus that makes SENSE!

My Fellow Citizens

There’s no doubt that folks are worried about, and/or biting their lip, in regard to the irresponsible proposal that the Obama Administration/Democrats have rammed through the US House and Senate regarding “stimulating” our economy.  So in response to their irresponsibility, I have put together a real “Stimulus Package” over the past several weeks that I presented via internet to the American people at 5:00pm Saturday Feb. 21.   I encourage you to review it, and please share it with as many folks as you wish.

As usual, your input and comments are most appreciated.  Since releasing my 'Stimulus plan', I have been asked to be a guest on various shows to discuss this program in contrast to the Obama/Pelosi bill.

My three-pronged proposal uses simple economics to provide a tangible solution to the economic struggle that our country currently finds itself in. This plan can be accomplished at a fraction of the cost presented by the Obama Administration and the Democrats, and provides a meaningful benefit to American families and businesses by creating more jobs and putting your money back into your pockets. My proposal will allow businesses to create more jobs which will encourage continued, instead of short term growth, the kind of growth that will bring us out of this economic slump that will only be exaggerated furthered by the Democrats current plan.

Remember, their plan is “spending plan” which provides no lasting effect on our economic well being. My plan, on the other hand, will provide real money that can be used to purchase a car, a home, education, to pay lingering bills, or simply provide a down payment on your future. My plan is a three page, common sense, successful solution to a nationwide economic problem compared to 1,071” pages of wasteful irresponsibility.

$44.59 $178.34

Summary of Proposal

The total income and payroll tax revenue collected by the government is right at
$464.4 billion every two months. Given that, I'm proposing the following;
First we declare an income tax, payroll tax and corporate tax holiday for 60 days. In
other words, the government does not take any federal taxes out of your paycheck for
60 days. This reflects an immediate $416.7 billion stimulus impact to the economy and
relief to everyone earning a paycheck in the United States
.

The total loss in tax revenue to the government translates to around $47.7 billion
which is the difference between the cost of a tax holiday and the total stimulative
impact
. I estimate that the tax break on the corporate payroll tax match alone will
enable corporations to create/save up to 2.6 million jobs averaging $50,000.00 per
year. In addition, consumers will have an average of $290 per week in their pay
checks to use as they see fit. The stimulative impact would be immediate vs. the 2
years in the Obama/Democrat package. The benefit is fair and easy to calculate, 1/3
of most Americans' pay checks.
The people in the lower income brackets that
normally get hammered stand the most to gain.

Summary of Proposal

After the 60 day tax holiday, income taxes fall from 30%-25%.The permanent,
across-the-board decrease in income taxes will add $33 to the average weekly
pay check, or over $132 per month. That's the kind of money that can help buy
a car, save a house, and do any number of other things certain people in the
government are convinced only government can do. My proposal puts the
money into the people's pockets, and empowers them to save themselves.

Summary of Proposal
The current corporate tax rate in the US is 35%, the 3rd highest in the
world which translates into an annual tax revenue of $304 billion.  This is
crippling U.S. businesses and forcing them to do business
overseas or to Mexico.

I want to reduce that tax rate to 15% which translates into $130 billion in
annual corporate tax revenue. That puts $173 billion back into the
corporations.  Now, not all corporations will reinvest in themselves, but I
have good reason to believe that at least 97% will.  That is $173 billion
dollars of instant corporate stimulus to invest in technology, machinery,
brick and mortar and JOBS.
According to Moodys; a permanent reduction in corporate income tax
rates would provide a stimulative benefit to the economy of 30 cents for
every dollar of tax reduction, or $52.1 billion dollars, and much more after
taking into consideration that people will spend it. Therefore, the NET
cost to the government or loss of tax revenue would be $121.6 billion
dollars.  Which would be made up due to the potential creation of  up to
3.5 million jobs averaging $50,000.00 per year in wages.

Each new job has an annual tax benefit to the government of $15,000 in payroll and income
taxes, which means every million new jobs puts $15 billion annually into
government coffers.
As you can see the potential jobs created or saved
equal the $778 billion Obama/Democrat "Spending" bill for a fraction of
the cost.
Now, that is change we can believe in!!
